California State Public Affairs has just launched a new web site for MHH. It's a "soft launch" meaning it's not totally completed yet. We're in the know because our social networking coordinator, Karen Hansen, is totally on top of things, and ahead of the curve.A couple of weeks ago, Karen made a Lodi Stake MHH page on facebook in hopes that our members could use it to communicate with each other during the upcoming event April 30. It had only been up a few days when Matt Stringer (state coordinator) discovered it and contacted Karen to tell her he was setting up a website and we would be included there.
The interesting thing about this is that even though there's a website, when you click on your location, the site transfers you to facebook, so we are really on facebook after all. Believe me, it took Karen and me a dozen phone calls and a lot of conversation to figure this all out.
So here's the deal: Go to the state website which is http://mhhcalifornia.org and then click on projects. Or just click here to check it out.
Either way you will see the screen in the picture above. Click on the Lodi location icon that I've circled in red and a small sign will come up asking you to click if you want to be transferred to our page on facebook.
If you're not yet on facebook, you will be asked to join before you can see the page. Karen and I have already sent out invitations to everyone in the stake to whom we are connected on facebook.
If you're already on facebook, another way to get to our page is to type "Mormon Helping Hands California" into the facebook search engine. Then on the left side click on "events" and the participating stakes will be listed. Click on "Lodi." Once you've done this, bookmark the page so that you can easily find it again.
The Church has asked us to use social networking to share the great things we do, and the things we believe in. The Church itself has many different facebook pages.
Thanks to the 23 of you who as of tonight have responded on the Lodi MHH page.
Below is a screen shot of our page. I have posted 11 pictures from last year, and also the video I made about President Anderson learning to tweet. Matt Stringer thought it was great, and it got a lot of response last year--so it's there for those who haven't seen it. President Anderson is a great example to all of us, trying to communicate the Gospel to the world.
We will be adding more information about projects as it becomes available.
