Above is a picture of our new stake presidency: Tom Reed, first counselor; Joseph Anderson, president; and Darwin Lyman, second counselor. We put a lot of planning into setting up interviews and pictures for coverage of this story. Ross Farrow of the Lodi News-Sentinal wanted to interview President Cook, and that was arranged several days before conference.

Elder Richards Maynes, general authority Seventy, consented to be interviewed the morning of conference about how callings are made in the LDS Church. President Anderson was interviewed at the newspaper office several days after conference.
We thought the interviews went well and we were promised major coverage in the paper for the following Saturday. We got the coverage, but the headline was a major shocker: "Cook Resigns as LDS stake prez."
Of course we know that didn't happen, but it caused quite a stir around the stake. Some people were demanding that we march right down there and straighten them out.
As it turned out, as soon as Ross came in to work and saw it, he realized it was a very bad headline. He hadn't seen it before, and didn't write it. Headlines are written by staff who lay the pages out and get them ready for printing. He called Adelle Barrette and apologized and made sure the headline was changed on the web addition. He and Adelle worked together on a new headline--see below.

Here are the stories as they appeared in the printed newspaper. You can read them on the Internet here for President Cook's article, and here for a story about President Anderson and the changing of the stake presidency. Below are the stories as they appeared in print. Except for a couple of minor errors the stories were well done and comprehensive.
