Due to her effective Twitter and Facebook service last year, Karen Hansen, Lodi Third Ward, will this year be a member of a statewide committee to promote social networking for the 2011 Mormon Helping Hands event.
Karen did a great job last year, not only getting the teens in the stake involved, but teaching President Anderson how to Tweet, and demonstrating to many how to have a presence on Facebook. She made contacts with most of the local and national news outlets, and is now being followed on Twitter by two of them.
Because of following a tweet, she developed a relationship with Channel 10 in Sacramento and was invited by them to their celebration of Social Media Day, a worldwide event on June 30, 2010. She was treated to lunch, had a tour of the station, and met many of the staff, as well as others in the community.
Karen also worked with the Lodi Stake Public Affairs staff to create an informational blog for the MHH event as a means of having the latest information available at all times to members working in the scattered cities in our stake. It was very effective.
