Renewing California Parks

Public Affairs in California is breaking new ground by planning the first-ever "Mormon Helping Hands Day" across the entire state on Saturday, May 8. Every stake will work with local state and community leaders to determine which parks will be involved, and what needs to be done.
Members will wear yellow Helping Hands vests while participating in the project. Lodi Stake has purchased 500 of the vests and is planning park service days in four different locations. (The vests can later be checked out and used by ward groups while performing service.) High Councilman Dan Sroufe is heading up the project and will be assisted by other members of the council, the Public Affairs staff, and a bishopric member and Relief Society member from each ward. After the first general meeting, Public Affairs advisor Steve Demetras exclaimed, "We are all on the Public Affairs roller coaster. Hang on tight!"
Families with children are encouraged to participate. Above is the Dave and Linda Weeks family from Lodi Third Ward modeling the vests.
The is no minimum age set, but everyone should keep in mind the age-appropriateness of each project. Some are family friendly; others might be dangerous for children to be present. We will post more details as they become available.
